Staff Spotlight: Claire Bisson
By Jordan Klotzle
Verdical Group’s Staff Spotlight series highlights the incredible contributions that each of our team members make through their expertise. The series is also a great way to delve into what our team members do on a day-to-day basis to mitigate the climate crisis.
Meet Claire Bisson, an Associate Project Manager with Verdical Group! Claire joined the VG team in November 2022. She graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and a Marine Policy track. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Engineering Management with a focus in Sustainability, Society, and Business at the University of Southern California.
As an Associate Project Manager, Claire works to support our broader Projects team. Under the overall supervision of Director of Projects Rebecca Ramsdale, Claire coordinates with the rest of the Project Management team to address third-party certification credits for the design and construction phases of different building projects.
Located in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, Fourth and Central is one of the many sustainable building projects in Verdical Group’s portfolio. The ten-building mixed-use development, designed by Studio One Eleven and Adjaye Associates, has been one of Claire’s favorite projects to work on. She assisted with the development of the Sustainability Basis of Design to analyze how each of the site’s ten buildings could meet its sustainability goals. Claire’s contribution supports Verdical Group’s Sustainability Charrette and Consulting scope, working collaboratively with Continuum Partners and the design team to advise on a global sustainability approach for this development.
On Fourth and Central and our wide array of other projects, Claire’s work with the Project Management team helps to directly combat the climate crisis by coming alongside design and construction teams to create the greenest buildings possible. From suggesting project sites that encourage the use of greener public transportation to advising on indoor and outdoor water use reduction, Claire enjoys “helping the people who design buildings to design them in the most sustainable way possible” to ensure a lower-carbon future.
Claire’s favorite part of working at Verdical Group is the energetic and encouraging workplace culture cultivated by our team of professionals. Each day of work “is fun and exciting,” she shared. “I love when we share things about sustainability in our work chat because I get to learn about things I wouldn’t normally hear about, like energy modeling. It makes me feel good when I share something with the team and receive positive feedback.”
