Staff Spotlight: Chloe Woodruff

By Jordan Klotzle

Verdical Group’s Staff Spotlight series highlights the incredible contributions that each of our team members make through their expertise. The series is also a great way to delve into what our team members do on a day-to-day basis to mitigate the climate crisis.

Meet Chloe Woodruff, Verdical Group’s Senior Marketing Manager! Chloe joined the VG team in 2018 with prior marketing experience in the green building industry. She earned her B.A. in Urban & Environmental Policy from Occidental College in Los Angeles, and has worked as Communications Associate at Urban Green Council, the New York affiliate of the USGBC; as Digital Media & Communications Associate at the Los Angeles Better Buildings Challenge; and as an Account Executive at a New York-based public relations firm.

Chloe is responsible for developing branded marketing strategies, managing our online presence and communications, coordinating public relations, and designing promotional materials. She coordinates with all of our different teams on a regular basis, but collaborates most frequently with our Verdical Events team to handle marketing for client events and our own Net Zero Conference.

While Chloe does not work directly on projects such as LEED certifications or Life-Cycle Assessments, her contribution is crucial in furthering Verdical Group’s mission to solve the climate crisis.

“Part of the reason that our team is successful and that we can continue to do the work we do is we showcase our values, and that’s where marketing comes in,” Chloe explained. “We share the work that we’re doing so we can lead by example. We’re all about sharing the wealth of information on how we’re taking tactical steps to contribute to environmental and social equity.”

For instance, Verdical Group has openly shared our journey to achieving and surpassing net zero status, offsetting our carbon footprint back to our founding in 2012 to become a net positive company. By educating others about Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions as we reduce and offset our own, we are working to “practice what we preach” and contribute to an equitable, net-zero future. Marketing around this incredible achievement allows us to educate a broader audience about what it means to be a net positive company and what steps they can take in their company’s own operations to reduce their carbon emissions.

The only thing better than working toward a good cause is doing it alongside people who share your passion, and this is what Chloe cites as her favorite part of working at Verdical Group.

“I think you can have your favorite job in the world, and you still won’t like it if you don’t like the people you work with,” she said. “At Verdical Group I’m lucky to have both.”
