Verdical Group is working with NMUSD and the project team to provide Commissioning services for HVAC upgrades serving 5 buildings at the campus of Victoria Elementary School in Costa Mesa, CA. Our team is verifying the installation and performance of the HVAC equipment and providing support in the development of commissioning specifications for the project.

The model demonstrated a total energy use savings of 14.16% below the baseline, as well as a cost savings of 14.63%. Not only that, but the EUI of 36 from the simulation is much better than the 52.9 EUI prescribed by the U.S. national median from Energy Star Portfolio Manager. This would qualify the design for 6 LEED points in the EAc – Optimize Energy Performance category for Core and Shell.

The highest contributors to end use energy savings are interior lighting, service water heating, and interior fans. The interior lighting savings are due to occupancy sensors in many spaces and high efficiency LED bulbs, which ended up saving a healthy 39.5% over the baseline. The efficient fixtures saved almost 32% on heating hot water.
