The South Whittier Public Library is a high-performance, highly efficient, 14,000-square-foot facility. Verdical Group provided LEED v3 for New Construction project management, successfully aiding the project in achieving LEED Platinum certification. The library used a combination of strategies to achieve energy cost savings of over 30 percent and generates renewable energy onsite to offset 27 percent of total energy costs. Thoughtful landscaping enabled a 69 percent reduction in outdoor potable water use, and 98 percent of the onsite-generated construction waste was diverted from landfills.
