Verdical Group worked with Hitachi Rail to provide the following services for their existing commercial office location in Pittsburgh, PA:

• LEED v4.1 Project Management (O+M Silver Certified)
• ASHRAE Energy Audit

The project spans approximately 180,000 square feet across 4 stories and successfully earned LEED v4.1 O+M Silver certification, surpassing the team’s original target of LEED Certified.

The Silver certification acknowledged several key sustainability features that were prioritzed by the project team: the building reduces heat island effect through a light-colored, reflective roof and light-colored paving that minimize heat absorption and help lower surrounding surface temperatures. It maintained efficient water use across operations, a goal that will be supported through ongoing monitoring and performance tracking. And about 21% of operational waste was diverted from landfills through recycling and composting!

The project achieved a strong indoor air quality score and a survey of occupants reported satisfaction in this category. Those occupants also averaged a 16-mile daily one-way commute, reflecting a well-connected, transit-accessible location.
