News Coverage of LA Mayor Karen Bass’ Trailblazer Award Win
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was named a Trailblazer Awardee at Verdical Group’s annual Net Zero Conference, hosted at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 1, 2025. The Los Angeles Sentinel recently covered the award, which was presented as part of our annual Trailblazer Award Ceremony.
“This award is a testament to all of the City Departments, non-profits, advocacy groups, and community leaders taking action every day to advance L.A.’s climate goals,” said Bass.
Under her leadership, hundreds of millions of dollars were secured through coordination with local, state, and federal partners as Los Angeles continues to urgently lead on climate. One example — in her award acceptance speech, she announced a no-cost LADWP program designed to help Angelenos in disadvantaged communities conserve water, save money on their water bills, and beautify their neighborhoods.
The Los Angeles Sentinel is a weekly African-American owned newspaper published in Los Angeles, California. It’s one of the oldest, largest and most influential African-American newspapers in the Western United States.
