Join us in Celebrating Black History Month with a Donation to Black Girl Environmentalist
Verdical Group is proud to share that we are celebrating Black History Month with a donation to Black Girl Environmentalist, a nonprofit focused on empowering Black girls, women, and non-binary people across the climate movement.
Black Girl Environmentalist was founded by Wawa Gatheru, a Net Zero Conference 2023 Trailblazer Awardee. Under her leadership, the organization has grown as a trusted, national organization that has worked with 59 corporate and non-profit partners and hosted 40 events across 10 HUB cities – in less than a year. In the last year, Black Girl Environmentalist has been recognized in Vogue, the New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Essence, Teen Vogue, Axios, and more.
“We’re an organization that focuses on pathways and retention for black women and gender expansive folks in the climate space. We have three buckets: community empowerment, narrative changing, and green workforce development, and we’re very thankful for partners like Verdical Group,” said Director of Strategic Partnerships T’Essence Minnitee at a Black Girl Environmentalist event hosted by Patagonia in Pasadena on February 10.
This donation is just one piece of our company’s commitment to anti-racism. Social justice is environmental justice, and it has never been more important to support intersectional work like Wawa’s. We give to organizations like Black Girl Environmentalist through our 1% for the Planet membership, a commitment to donating 1% of all Verdical Group’s revenue, not just profit, to environmental nonprofits.
“The outdoors is for everybody, so get out there and have fun!” said Verdical Group’s Founder & CEO, sharing news of the donation.
