ILFI Honors VG CEO Drew Shula with Hero Award

We’re pleased to announce that the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) has honored Verdical Group’s Founder & Principal Drew Shula with a 2020 Living Future Hero Award. Presented at their virtual Living Future unConference, the largest annual event on regenerative design and sustainable, green building, the Hero Awards honor leaders from around the world who are leading on environmental advocacy. Shula congratulated the entire Verdical Group team for making the award possible for the world-changing work the firm is doing, and extended congratulations to the entire class of 2020 Living Future Hero Award winners.

In 2012, Shula founded Verdical Group, a leading Los Angeles-based full-service green building consulting firm specializing in certification project management, net zero, commissioning, energy modeling, and program management. Verdical Group is a certified B Corporation and 1% for the Planet member company. In addition to managing some of the highest-profile green building projects in California, including JUST, Declare, and Living Building Challenge projects (such as the first Energy Petal certified project in California), Verdical Group hosts the world’s largest annual Net Zero Conference. ILFI is a Program Partner for the Net Zero Conference, which their former CEO Amanda Sturgeon and Founder Jason McLennan have both keynoted. Sturgeon has also keynoted Verdical Group’s Biomimicry Conference in 2016.

Shula is a Founding Steering Committee member of the Living Building Challenge Los Angeles Collaborative and a frequent speaker on net zero and high-performance buildings including at Cornell University, The 2 Degrees Symposium on Climate Change, and the Living Future unConference. Shula has appeared in USA Today, Forbes, USGBC+ Magazine, and the International Living Future Institute’s Trim Tab. He holds a 5-year professional degree in Architecture from the University of Notre Dame.

Verdical Group is proud to have worked on a number of projects pursuing ILFI programs, including:
