Cajon High School Receives Learning By Design Education Facilities Design Award
Learning by Design Magazine has published its annual Education Facilities Design Awards Showcase, which featured an Honorable Mention Award for Cajon High School in San Bernadino, CA.
Verdical Group is working with NAC Architecture to provide Sustainability Visioning/Programming & Consulting and a whole-building Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the replacement of the library and administration buildings and addition of classrooms. We are advising the project team on sustainable design elements, LEED, ZNE, and Living Building Challenge (LBC) as they relate to the District’s sustainability goals.
Entries were peer-reviewed by a jury of five education design professionals and scored on six submission criteria: Innovation, Community Needs, Interior Design, Sustainability, Functional Design, and Next Generation Learning. Jurors noted Cajon High School’s “Innovative layout with soft and inviting edges and nice connection between inside and outside,” remarking that “the fusing of the components shapes a unique, world-class experience that redefines what school can be, how learning occurs, and the ways knowledge acquisition is integrated into the lives of young people in formal and casual ways.”
Cajon High School was featured in the print and digital version of the April 2022 Magazine, which reaches more than 50,000 leaders at all levels of education and facility design. You can read the project highlight in Learning by Design Magazine here.
